Biography

 

Valeria is a freelance dance artist currently based in Buenos Aires.

She holds a Bachelor in Arts from Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten since 2005 and is STAT Certified Teacher of the Alexander Technique since 2013.

In the last years she has been developing her work in different art residencies and through collaborations with other artists in Amsterdam, Berlin and Buenos Aires.

 

She has been a resident artist at:

OCOA - Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil)  Puentes project with a stioendium from  Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina)

to develop a work in collaboration with poet and performer Bobby Baq

Presenting PARTIR at OCOA , 12, 13, 15 Y 17 November 2015 .

Akiyoshidai International Arts Village in Yamaguchi, Japan, creating the work PUBLIC BODY and performing at the same venue and at Imaichi Studio, Yamaguchi and at Asterl Plaza, Hiroshima –Japan ( Jaunary – march 2010)

MIKS company in London, creating the work [FEVER] (September- November 2009), presented at LABAN theater, Croydon Clocktower last November , RichMix and Arc Theater last June.

The Performance Corporation at Castletownhouse, Cellbridge, Ireland. Creating the photo-performance work  Tree me , shown at Neukölln Exhibition in December. (March 2009)

Her work EFECTO REBOTE begann as a part of the project FEVER, and was performed at  Festival Buenos Aires Danza 2010 in a collaboration with Proyecto Ligado (Buenos Aires) and Hibridus (Brasil)

Since 2004 she manages the interdisciplinary arts platform THE MEETING POINT as a founder and coordinator, generating different contexts for interdisciplinary dialogue and production. She is also part of Berlin´s international artists pool NUEKÖLLN IMPORT.

She collaborated with Tommy Noonan on Labyrinth during the research period in Buenos Aires in 2010,  and with Two-Women-Machine-Show during their residency in Buenos Aires 2012 and performed the works by Trisha Brown Floor of the Forest and Accumulations during 

Documenta 12 in 2007 in Kassel, and performed at diverse projects by Q Hisashi Shibata at Heinz-Minki, Berlin, Tian Zhiming - China Moves Fabrik Potsdam, Bridge Markland, Katie Duck, Robert Steijn and Frans Poelstra at Impulstanz Festival and visual artistis Oisin Byrne (Ireland 2009) and Shiina Takehito (Japan 2010)

in 2012 she funded together with Lucía Fernández Mouján Nada Personal Performance Company producing the work Cuatro Ensayos Voraces and the Artists in Residency Program Habitantes.

 

She has been teaching at IUDANZA, Caracas; Festival Montevideo Sitiada, Uruguay; Buitenkunst, Studio Anna Mora, Al Nour and Dansdrift, The Netherlands. SOZO dance visions school in Kassel, Germany, El Patio, Buenos Aires, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi Elementary School in Japan.

 EDUCATION

 

She started her independent full time training in 1996 in Buenos Aires. where she studied with Marina Giancaspro, Ana Maria Stekelman, Olga Ferri, Cristina Barnlis, Ana Garat, Gustavo Lesgart, and worked with Monica Fraccia, Oscar Araiz and Silvia Pritz. In 2001 She began her BA studies at the Amsterdam Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Theaterschool at the Modern Theatre Dance and SNDO, where She graduated in June 2005.

She studied with Julyen Hamilton, Nienke Reehorst, David Zambrano, Cristina Barnils, Angellique Willkie and Sidi Larbi Chercaoui, Benoit Lechambre, Katie Duck, Mark Tompkins, Andrew Harwood, Mathilde Monnier, Martin Kilvady and Chrysa Parkinson. all of them have deeply inspired her work.

She trained qigong and taiqi at the Oriental College with Rene Goris, in Amsterdam 2006-2007 and Wudang Deutschland with Ismet Himmet in Berlin (2009), Aikido at Aikido Zen Berlin with Gerhard Walter (2009) Club Argentino de Wushu with Chen Min (2011),  Kung Fu School Shen-Xian with Jesús Landazabal (2012-2014), Centro San Ti with Jerónimo Milo (2014) and recently practiced Tai chi and the Alexander Technique integrated by Caren Bayer (New York- Febrero y Marzo 2015)

Currently training at Shen-Xian Kungfu school directed by Jesús Landazabal, since 2012 in Buenos Aires.

 

She graduated as a teacher of the Alexander Technique in November 2013, at Alexander Technique Teachers School in Buenos Aires ETABA, for which she has been awarded a "Further Studies" grant by the National Arts Funds in Argentina and certified by "The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique".
